I am interested in aspects of visualizing geographic data, agent-based systems (and their AI possibilities), digital imaging / photography, and effective web applications.

Until this year (MMVIII) I have pretty much tried to limit the amount of personal information that is easily accessible via Internet. However, like so many others I am quickly realizing that it is now an information management effort. Web apps like Facebook and Gmail mean that an amazing amount of personal information is catalogued, analyzed and is generally available to anyone with moderate online skill. I won’t get into the privacy issues behind all of this right now but suffice it to say that you can no longer safely assume anonymity. As a result, gmcquat.wordpress.com is part of an ongoing effort to build up a web presence. No alter-ego MUD personas here, just a projection of gmcquat.
